A major police response near the Richmond-El Cerrito border has drawn widespread attention following a shooting involving a Richmond police officer Thursday evening, September 3, 2026. According to police, the situation began when Contra Costa County’s A3 behavioral health response team requested assistance from Richmond police while conducting a mental-health check at a residence in East Richmond.
